220/365 busy like the proverbial bee
only picture i got of myself today, between getting a nerd tattoo with my bff and photographing the spitfest. pictures of adventures tomorrow, after i teach sunday school. (i desperately need the money.)

219/365 armed & dangerous
jesus christ!
so, jessica and erin are over here and we are watching star wars (on vhs!) and eating chinese food. i'm lying on the futon and i see a dark shape move past the window out of the corner of my eyes. then the street light across the street goes out. i get jessica to close the curtain, and then? a knock on the door. not a "hey open up" knock, but a very soft knock, as if to see if anyone hears it. we don't answer. assorted weapons are collected. it's hard to type with brass knuckles on.
one of my biggest fears is someone coming into my house without me knowing. i wish my roommates were here, because eventually erin and jessica will leave and i will work myself into a terrified mess, clutching a kitchen knife in one hand.
anyone want to have a sleepover?

217/365 i tell my own stories
this morning i dragged two of my favorite books off the shelf, a lifevest for the boredom of long afternoons babysitting a sleeping infant. i tend to find treasures for bookmarks, two blurry polaroids with illegible inscriptions, a packet of sweet orange tea that was given to me by someone who thought a cuppa would do me good. the pages of bradbury are scented with flower petals.

211/365 these are the days of miracle & wonder
when you work with kids, sometimes you have days where various bodily fluids end up all over the place, and your favorite necklace gets broken during a strangling hug and there are tears and bandaids and constant emergencies and scheduling problems and loud noises. but this is all part of growing up, and maybe at the end of the day you see an infant boy start to crawl, or the best cloud you've ever seen from the upper deck of the highway, or you sign a lease for a house with two of your best friends and eat sushi until you think you might explode. this is life. this is a song sung out loud, off key, making up the verses until you get to a familiar chorus.

204/365 yesterday i asked him to marry me
(a little late because i lost my lens cap and image transfer cord briefly...)
yesterday was awesome. i got to sit by the pool with two of my favorite people and soe beer, play a badass game of marco polo with water guns, and then go to a former favorite dive bar that now does karaoke. there were less than a dozen people in the bar and we did a lot of silly things.
